Job Description

Fund Accountant Overview

  • The Fund Accountant will manage accounting and financial operations for fund partnership vehicles, ensuring compliance with GAAP/IFRS standards.
  • Collaborate with accounting teams and fund administrators to oversee cash flow activities, including capital calls and distributions.
  • Review and analyze management and performance fees, ensuring accurate calculations and reporting.
  • Assist in preparing quarterly unaudited and annual audited financial statements, adhering to industry standards.
  • Provide support to investment teams during transaction closings, including allocation reviews and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with fund administrators to deliver required reporting and ensure partnership agreement compliance.
  • Respond to investor inquiries professionally and promptly, ensuring satisfaction and accurate information delivery.
  • Collaborate with tax departments for fund and investor K-1 reviews and tax payments.
  • Maintain and review distribution waterfalls and carried interest calculations for accuracy and compliance.

Fund Accountant Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee investor cash flow activities, including capital call and distribution notices.
  • Track daily cash activity, set up wire payments, and prepare cash projections.
  • Review quarterly unaudited and annual audited financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.
  • Analyze management and performance fee calculations for accuracy and compliance.
  • Support investment teams during transaction closings with allocation reviews and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with fund administrators to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Interpret partnership agreements and ensure compliance with reporting requirements and partner economics.
  • Assist tax departments with fund and investor K-1 reviews and tax payments.
  • Respond to investor inquiries and provide professional support and analysis.

Fund Accountant Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fund accounting or financial operations.
  • Preferred 4 years of experience in accounting within private markets or investment funds.
  • Proficiency in GAAP/IFRS standards and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in fee calculations and cash flow management.
  • Excellent communication skills for investor correspondence and team collaboration.
  • Ability to interpret partnership agreements and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Experience with tax documentation reviews, including K-1s and tax payments.
  • Familiarity with fund accounting software and tools for efficient operations.
