Principal Investigator Overview

Principal Investigator Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct and oversee clinical trials, ensuring adherence to protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise delegated tasks, ensuring team members are qualified and trained.
- Protect participant rights, safety, and welfare throughout the research process.
- Perform study-related procedures including physical exams, informed consent, and health assessments.
- Review and adjudicate laboratory, imaging, and biopsy findings for accuracy.
- Manage subject screening, recruitment, and scheduling to meet study goals.
- Provide after-hours phone coverage and weekend support for study visits.
- Ensure confidentiality of study sponsor and clinical trial information.
- Collaborate with teams to prepare for study monitor visits and audits.
Principal Investigator Job Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree with at least 5 years of clinical research experience.
- Prior experience as a Principal Investigator in SLD or cardiometabolic research.
- Proficiency in FDA regulations, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and IRB protocols.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing clinical trials.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based enterprise solutions.
- Ability to work on-site in a clinical environment with exposure to biological fluids.
- Flexibility to provide weekend and after-hours coverage as needed.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor to collaborate effectively.
