Technical Accounting Manager Overview

Technical Accounting Manager Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct research on complex accounting transactions under US GAAP and IFRS standards.
  • Monitor and analyze new accounting standards issued by regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical accounting white papers and position memos.
  • Advise on accounting implications of transactions, contracts, and regulatory changes.
  • Collaborate with external auditors to defend technical accounting positions.
  • Draft footnote disclosures for financial statements under applicable standards.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to assess financial reporting impacts of decisions.

Technical Accounting Manager Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
  • 6–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including technical accounting research.
  • Public accounting experience; 3+ years in technical advisory or assurance roles preferred.
  • Expertise in US GAAP and IFRS standards; dual-framework reporting experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to author technical memos and white papers for audit review.
  • Strong collaboration skills with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in capital-intensive or multi-entity environments is a plus.
