Job Description

Tax Manager Overview

  • The Tax Manager oversees income tax accounting, compliance functions, and audit activities, ensuring adherence to regulations and efficient tax operations.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional leaders to support strategic initiatives and ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
  • Reports directly to the Tax Director, playing a pivotal role in tax risk assessment and operational efficiency.
  • Manages federal and state income tax compliance, including preparation, review, and filing of returns.
  • Prepares and oversees income tax accounting for legal entities, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Leads audits, acting as the primary contact with tax authorities and external auditors.
  • Evaluates and implements internal controls to enhance compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinates responses to data requests from auditors and accounting firms, supporting finance operations.
  • Provides data-driven insights to support strategic tax and finance initiatives.

Tax Manager Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage federal and state income tax compliance, including preparation, review, and filing of returns.
  • Prepare and oversee income tax accounting for legal entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Evaluate, design, and implement processes and controls to strengthen compliance and efficiency.
  • Prepare and maintain reports for the parent organization on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Manage federal and state income tax audits, serving as the primary contact with authorities.
  • Ensure adherence to established tax policies, regulations, and procedures across the company.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify and lead strategic and special projects.
  • Coordinate responses to data requests from external auditors and accounting firms.
  • Provide analytical insights to support strategic initiatives and ongoing operations.

Tax Manager Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum five years of progressive professional experience in tax operations across multiple disciplines.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and financial systems, including D365 and AI-enabled tools.
  • Experience in the telecommunications or cable industry is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and effective time management abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, including public speaking.
  • Experience with property and sales tax is a plus.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with sound business acumen.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and lead strategic initiatives.
