Cost Accounting Manager Overview

  • The Cost Accounting Manager will oversee financial analysis and reporting for manufacturing and supply chain operations, ensuring accurate cost accounting and strategic decision-making support.
  • Lead a team of finance professionals, fostering collaboration and development within a dynamic and impactful organization.
  • Provide financial insight to optimize operational costs and support long-term business objectives.
  • Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to enhance strategic pricing and sourcing decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with cost accounting principles and practices, maintaining accurate financial reporting.
  • Develop financial models and scenario analyses to evaluate operational initiatives and inventory performance.

Cost Accounting Manager Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Analyze manufacturing, transportation, and overhead costs to identify trends and optimization opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate product and supply chain costs, including materials, labor, and freight.
  • Prepare and analyze cost and operational performance reports, including KPI dashboards.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting for manufacturing and supply chain operations.
  • Develop financial models to evaluate sourcing decisions and operational initiatives.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights for strategic decisions.
  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation and controls, supporting inventory planning initiatives.
  • Drive process improvements in cost accounting and financial reporting practices.

Cost Accounting Manager Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in cost accounting, financial analysis, or related roles.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Experience in managing and developing finance and accounting teams is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel occasionally as required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
