Medical Assistant Overview
- The Medical Assistant serves as the first point of contact for patient care, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience for all patients.
- This role involves both administrative and clinical tasks, providing comprehensive support to healthcare operations.
- You will perform varied activities, including moderately complex administrative, operational, and customer support assignments.
- Responsibilities include documenting patient symptoms, recording vital signs, administering injections, and performing diagnostic tests.
- The Medical Assistant ensures examination rooms are maintained and equipment is sterilized for optimal patient care.
- This position reports directly to the Center Administrator and contributes to the success of the healthcare team.
- Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing a stable schedule.
- This role is patient-facing and includes participation in the Tuberculosis (TB) screening program.
Medical Assistant Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Document patient symptoms accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Take and record vital signs, ensuring precise and timely data collection.
- Administer injections and medications following established protocols and guidelines.
- Perform diagnostic tests and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and accuracy.
- Collect specimens and draw blood for laboratory analysis.
- Sterilize medical equipment and maintain examination rooms to uphold hygiene standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care delivery.
- Participate in the Tuberculosis (TB) screening program as part of patient-facing responsibilities.
Medical Assistant Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED is required for this position.
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program or certification is mandatory.
- Phlebotomy experience and proficiency in medication and vaccine administration are essential.
- CPR certification is required to ensure patient safety during emergencies.
- Preferred qualifications include bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Experience with value-based care, including HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience, is advantageous.
- This role requires participation in the Tuberculosis (TB) screening program.
- Candidates must demonstrate strong organizational and patient care skills.
