Nurse Director Maternal Child Health Overview

  • The Nurse Director Maternal Child Health oversees operations of labor and delivery, triage, antepartum, and PACU units, ensuring exceptional patient care and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborates with the Chief Nursing Officer to align departmental goals with organizational objectives and strategic initiatives.
  • Responsible for personnel management, including recruitment, performance evaluation, and professional development of nursing staff.
  • Develops and implements evidence-based practices to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Ensures adherence to safety standards, licensing requirements, and accreditation regulations across all assigned units.
  • Oversees budget preparation, financial resource management, and productivity monitoring for the department.

Nurse Director Maternal Child Health Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in labor and delivery nursing; 7 years preferred.
  • Current California Registered Nurse license and specialty certifications (BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring).
  • Proven leadership experience, including roles as charge nurse, manager, or director.
  • Strong knowledge of labor and delivery practices, regulatory compliance, and healthcare management.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets, develop staffing plans, and ensure productivity.
