Staff Accountant Overview

  • The Staff Accountant role offers an opportunity to contribute to a respected organization with a historic legacy and diverse coalition network.
  • This contract position supports critical finance operations for a 60-day period, ensuring seamless financial management.
  • Work in a hybrid environment, combining remote flexibility with occasional on-site collaboration.
  • Engage in broad-ranging financial tasks, including accounts payable, payroll coordination, and general ledger management.
  • Contribute to audit and compliance processes, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and accurate reporting.

Staff Accountant Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Process vendor invoices, staff reimbursements, and weekly payments while maintaining accurate vendor records.
  • Reconcile corporate credit cards and administer DataBasics, including training and staff inquiries.
  • Coordinate biweekly payroll with People & Culture and prepare related journal entries.
  • Reconcile cash and investment accounts, process bank activity, and maintain financial records.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts, including intercompany and fixed assets.
  • Support month-end close processes and ensure timely preparation of accurate financial statements.
  • Assist with year-end close, external audits, and Form 990 preparation, ensuring compliance.
  • Participate in grant reporting, budgeting, and cross-training initiatives to support Finance operations.

Staff Accountant Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) or equivalent degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience; 5 years preferred for optimal performance.
  • Proficiency in accounts payable, payroll coordination, and general ledger management.
  • Experience with audit support, compliance processes, and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for accurate financial reconciliation.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment, balancing remote and on-site responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with financial software and tools, including DataBasics administration.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills to support diverse finance initiatives.
