Controller Overview

  • The Controller role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial management of a prestigious endowment portfolio.
  • Collaborate within a small, dynamic team to oversee accounting and financial reporting activities for endowment-related entities.
  • Support audit and tax matters, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and organizational policies.

Controller Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage day-to-day accounting and financial reporting activities for the endowment portfolio and related entities.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, and expense payment processes.
  • Coordinate annual audits and tax activities with third-party accounting firms.
  • Identify financial reporting risks and propose mitigation strategies to ensure compliance.
  • Support governance processes, including scheduling and preparation of stakeholder meeting materials.
  • Draft and maintain policy documentation for critical activities and controls.
  • Manage vendor relationships and oversee operational tasks within the team.
  • Participate in special projects, providing analytical and strategic support.

Controller Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with a strong academic record.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with 7 years preferred.
  • CPA certification strongly preferred, demonstrating advanced accounting expertise.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and familiarity with financial systems.
  • Knowledge of asset allocation principles and alternative investment strategies is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively in a collaborative environment.
