Senior Manager Technical Accounting Overview

  • The Senior Manager Technical Accounting will lead complex financial reporting and accounting processes for a fast-growing energy firm.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new accounting standards and evaluate financial transactions.

Senior Manager Technical Accounting Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Research and document accounting implications of transactions, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC reporting standards.
  • Review lease contracts and assess operating versus finance lease classifications.
  • Analyze debt agreements and amendments, documenting modification versus extinguishment results.
  • Collaborate with external auditors on technical accounting determinations and policy changes.
  • Implement new accounting standards, develop workpapers, and refine processes for accurate reporting.
  • Draft and update accounting policies, presenting training materials to internal and foreign reporting teams.
  • Support tax provision processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with forecasted and actual financial data.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives, including capital raises and significant financial transactions.

Senior Manager Technical Accounting Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting; CPA certification required.
  • Minimum of 8 years accounting experience, preferably with Big 4 or industry-specific technical accounting expertise.
  • Proficiency in US GAAP public company accounting and advisory practices.
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 842, ASC 606, and ASC 470 accounting standards.
  • Experience with SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft Office Suite, and Workiva software preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess complex transactions and prepare detailed documentation.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
