Senior Financial Analyst Overview

  • The Senior Financial Analyst will analyze financial and operational data, improving workflows and supporting Finance's strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency across Finance processes.
  • Drive process improvements and system enhancements, ensuring clarity, efficiency, and repeatability in workflows.
  • Provide actionable insights through detailed analysis of large datasets, supporting decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Develop dashboards, KPIs, and analytical workpapers to increase visibility and accountability within Finance operations.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close activities with accurate schedules, operational reporting, and variance explanations.
  • Partner with Finance and business leaders to address data gaps and improve internal controls.
  • Contribute to Finance transformation initiatives, including system implementations and process automation efforts.

Senior Financial Analyst Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Analyze Finance workflows, including billing, invoicing, refunds, and accounts receivable, identifying issues and recommending solutions.
  • Monitor operational metrics, transaction volumes, and exception rates, providing actionable recommendations to improve performance.
  • Reconcile operational reports with financial records, investigating discrepancies and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Develop and enhance dashboards, KPIs, and recurring reports to support Finance decision-making.
  • Perform ad hoc financial and operational analysis, presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and staffing analysis with accurate and timely insights.
  • Redesign templates and reconciliations, automating manual activities while maintaining controls.
  • Collaborate with teams to resolve data and process gaps, ensuring effective execution of Finance initiatives.

Senior Financial Analyst Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance operations, FP&A, or regulated financial services.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex analyses and repeatable workpapers.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, reconciliations, and transaction-based workflows.
  • Experience with large data sets, root cause analysis, and actionable recommendations.
  • Preferred experience in insurance, claims, investment reporting, or regulated financial services.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, SQL, ERP systems, or process automation tools preferred.
  • Certifications such as CPA, MBA, or Lean Six Sigma are advantageous.
