MEP Senior Superintendent Overview

  • The MEP Senior Superintendent oversees field execution of complex mission-critical projects, ensuring quality, safety, and reliability.
  • Lead mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and specialty systems from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover.
  • Coordinate MEP subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to achieve project milestones.
  • Ensure installations meet contract documents, codes, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Drive critical-path activities and maintain aggressive project schedules for timely delivery.
  • Mentor and develop field staff, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Represent the client professionally with owners, consultants, subcontractors, and trade partners.
  • Work on high-profile projects alongside experienced construction and engineering professionals.

MEP Senior Superintendent Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead day-to-day field execution of MEP systems on large-scale mission-critical projects.
  • Coordinate equipment deliveries, installation sequencing, startup, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Review project plans, specifications, BIM/VDC models, and MEP coordination drawings.
  • Oversee installation and quality of major systems like electrical distribution, HVAC, and plumbing.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality-control walks to identify deficiencies.
  • Manage punch-list activities and support successful project turnover.
  • Coordinate commissioning, integrated systems testing, and owner acceptance activities.
  • Proactively identify schedule risks, manpower constraints, and material issues.
  • Enforce site safety procedures and promote a strong safety culture.

MEP Senior Superintendent Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Minimum 10 years of commercial construction field experience; 15 years preferred.
  • Proven experience delivering mission-critical or highly technical projects.
  • Strong understanding of complex electrical and mechanical systems integration.
  • Proficiency in construction technology and project management software like Procore and Bluebeam.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with BIM/VDC coordination and resolving field conflicts.
