Collections Specialist Overview

Collections Specialist Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Produce accounts receivable aging and delinquency reports using applicable operating systems independently.
  • Document customer accounts with collection notes, payment promises, and escalation points in the system.
  • Make professional outbound collection calls to improve customer relations and resolve billing issues.
  • Monitor and review assigned accounts, ensuring compliance with company DSO guidelines.
  • Identify delinquency causes, discuss solutions with management, and follow up on payment arrangements.
  • Safeguard confidentiality of records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  • Mail correspondence and fax documents to encourage payment of delinquent accounts.
  • Collaborate with team members on special projects and complex assignments effectively.

Collections Specialist Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of collections experience, preferably with large customer bases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting software such as NetSuite, Intacct, or QuickBooks.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Ability to work in a multi-function, multi-geography environment effectively.
