Radiation Therapist Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Administer radiation therapy treatments according to physician prescriptions and established protocols.
  • Educate patients on procedures and equipment to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Collaborate with physicians and dosimetrists to determine and implement optimal treatment plans.
  • Monitor patient conditions during treatments and respond to changes appropriately.
  • Prepare and maintain radiation therapy equipment, ensuring safety standards and performing quality control procedures.
  • Position patients accurately for imaging procedures and analyze results for quality assurance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions, reporting issues as necessary.
  • Document and transmit treatment and imaging results, maintaining accurate patient records.

Radiation Therapist Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Radiation Therapy or related field.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-T).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
