Pharmacy Technician Overview

  • The Pharmacy Technician role focuses on medication counseling and assistance to ensure proper adherence and minimize treatment gaps.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, providers, and community partners to optimize medication therapy for members.
  • Remote position with flexible scheduling, including occasional Saturday shifts and compensatory weekday time off.
  • Engage in member communication to address medication-related issues and provide tailored support.
  • Facilitate access to medications through coordination of refills, new prescriptions, and financial assistance.
  • Perform health assessments to identify barriers to medication adherence and develop solutions.
  • Bilingual Spanish proficiency required to effectively communicate with diverse member populations.

Pharmacy Technician Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct medication reviews to eliminate barriers and ensure adherence to prescribed therapies.
  • Act as a Pharmacy Navigator to minimize gaps in therapy and prevent adverse medication events.
  • Facilitate member access to medications, including refills, prescriptions, and financial support.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare providers to coordinate medication treatment plans.
  • Partner with community pharmacies to monitor and communicate member medication adherence.
  • Perform health assessments to gather comprehensive medication profiles and identify adherence barriers.
  • Handle member and provider communications telephonically, ensuring clear and professional interactions.
  • Document care delivered and communicate relevant information to other healthcare providers.

Pharmacy Technician Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution required.
  • Nationally certified Pharmacy Technician or registered/licensed Pharmacy Technician in good standing.
  • Experience in professional communication with patients, providers, and pharmacists on medication-related issues.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish required to address diverse member needs.
  • Preferred: Medication Therapy Management Certificate for enhanced service delivery.
  • Ability to perform health assessments and identify barriers to medication adherence.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage member medication plans and documentation effectively.
  • Commitment to compliance and regulatory standards in pharmacy operations.
