Job Description

Pharmacy Technician Overview

  • The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for supporting medication counseling and adherence for members in collaboration with healthcare teams.
  • This is a remote contract position with flexible scheduling, including occasional Saturday shifts.
  • Provide assistance to minimize gaps in treatment by collaborating with pharmacists and providers.
  • Facilitate member access to medications, including refills and financial assistance.
  • Document care delivery and communicate information to healthcare providers.
  • Perform patient health assessments to identify barriers to medication adherence.
  • Partner with community pharmacies to monitor and enhance medication adherence.
  • Handle telephonic communications with members and providers regarding medication issues.
  • Work in a dynamic environment requiring bilingual Spanish communication skills.

Pharmacy Technician Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Review medication lists to eliminate barriers to therapy and ensure proper adherence.
  • Facilitate access to medications by coordinating refills and new prescriptions.
  • Align medication refills to reduce pharmacy visits and improve convenience.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare teams to integrate medication therapy management interventions.
  • Perform health assessments to collect medication profiles and identify adherence barriers.
  • Communicate medication treatment plans to members and providers effectively.
  • Monitor member medication adherence through partnerships with community pharmacies.
  • Handle member and provider communications professionally and efficiently.
  • Document care delivery and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.

Pharmacy Technician Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution required.
  • Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician or registered/licensed Pharmacy Technician in good standing.
  • Experience communicating with patients, providers, and pharmacists on medication-related issues.
  • Written and verbal communication skills that are clear, concise, and professional.
  • Bilingual Spanish skills are mandatory for effective member communication.
  • Medication Therapy Management Certificate is preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional Saturdays.
  • Stable work history demonstrating reliability and consistency.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities efficiently.
