Job Description

Director, FP&A Overview

  • The Director, FP&A will lead financial planning, forecasting, and analysis to drive strategic decision-making for the client.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to build scalable finance infrastructure in a dynamic SaaS/fintech environment.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, including revenue metrics, operational expenses, and cash flow projections.
  • Deliver board-ready reporting packages, including KPI dashboards and management commentary.
  • Lead scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to support strategic initiatives and investments.
  • Improve FP&A processes and tools, implementing planning software as the company scales.
  • Manage equity programs and financial risk management, ensuring comprehensive coverage and accurate reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial strategies with organizational goals.
  • Contribute to the modernization of financial infrastructure in partnership with banks and fintechs.

Director, FP&A Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
  • Develop financial models for revenue, operational expenses, and cash flow management.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to track budgets, explain variances, and drive accountability.
  • Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial reports to executives and stakeholders.
  • Conduct scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to support strategic decisions.
  • Enhance FP&A tools and processes, implementing scalable solutions for growth.
  • Manage equity programs, including grant tracking and dilution modeling.
  • Oversee financial risk management, including insurance coverage and claims support.
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses to inform leadership on major initiatives and investments.

Director, FP&A Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive finance experience, including FP&A leadership in SaaS or fintech.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills using Excel or Google Sheets; planning tool experience is a plus.
  • Experience partnering with C-level executives and presenting to boards or investors.
  • Strong command of SaaS/subscription financial metrics and unit economics.
  • Hands-on familiarity with equity management tools like Carta.
  • Proven ability to manage equity compensation programs for venture-backed companies.
  • Experience with financial risk management and corporate insurance programs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cost-benefit analysis for strategic business decisions.
