Job Description

Imaging Technician Overview

  • The Imaging Technician role involves performing advanced imaging procedures, including MRI scans, to support research and development studies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, scientists, and study directors to ensure quality data collection and analysis.
  • Provide imaging expertise for complex analysis, image interpretation, and consulting services as required.
  • Support animal and human cadaver studies, ensuring compliance with biosafety and biosecurity standards.
  • Assist in equipment selection, planning, and personnel decisions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and control quality assurance for imaging equipment, troubleshooting issues as needed.
  • Develop imaging plans and protocols in collaboration with sponsors to meet study requirements.
  • Train and advise new employees on routine imaging protocols and specialized studies.
  • Contribute to the improvement of imaging processes and procedures to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.

Imaging Technician Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform imaging exams, including cardiac, vascular, brain, and spine studies, as assigned.
  • Operate imaging equipment independently, ensuring adherence to protocols and safety standards.
  • Conduct basic image analysis, creating reports with anatomical and functional measurements.
  • Support compliance with radiation regulations and operation of X-ray or fluoroscopy equipment.
  • Assist in monitoring and caring for animals used in research studies.
  • Troubleshoot imaging equipment issues and provide solutions to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Collaborate with sponsors to develop imaging protocols tailored to specific study needs.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members on imaging techniques and equipment usage.
  • Maintain inventory and ensure the availability of necessary supplies and equipment.

Imaging Technician Job Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in radiologic technology or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing MRI scans; 6 years preferred.
  • Proficiency with Phillips MRI software platform and imaging equipment.
  • Experience working in regulated environments and adhering to compliance standards.
  • Ability to perform complex image analysis and interpretation tasks.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving imaging equipment and procedural issues.
  • Knowledge of biosafety and biosecurity practices in animal care settings.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and sponsors.
  • Flexibility to work onsite for scanning and remotely for training and reporting tasks.
