- Collaborate with clients and legal professionals to ensure efficient case handling.
- Utilize advanced organizational and communication skills to meet deadlines effectively.
- Contribute to advocacy efforts for underserved communities and individuals.
- Work onsite in a supportive and professional legal setting.
- Leverage technical proficiency in Microsoft Word and PDF programs for document preparation.
Paralegal Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Review case dispositions and coordinate with attorneys for appeal notices.
- Draft and file legal documents, including motions and notices of appeal.
- Track case progress and update the case management system.
- Communicate with clients regarding case updates and attorney assignments.
- Organize and manage court records and transcripts.
- Prepare cases for closing and ensure all documentation is complete.
- Collaborate with courts and criminal justice agencies for case coordination.
- Adapt to evolving practice needs and contribute to team efforts.
Paralegal Job Requirements
- Associate degree or higher, or paralegal certificate from an ABA-accredited program.
- Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience, with strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PDF programs for document management.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
- Experience in advocacy for underserved communities is highly valued.
- Knowledge of New York criminal law and procedures is preferred.
