Registered Nurse Overview

  • The Registered Nurse (Care Team Supervisor) provides clinical supervision and professional nursing care to patients in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Organizes and mentors the care team staff, ensuring adherence to patient safety and satisfaction standards.
  • Collaborates with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care and maintain compliance with regulations.
  • Coordinates daily huddles, manages clinical supplies, and ensures operational efficiency.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments, documenting progress notes in the electronic health record.
  • Provides patient care considering age-related characteristics and safety needs.
  • Supports staff development through training, performance evaluations, and feedback processes.
  • Ensures infection control, environmental safety, and confidentiality standards are maintained.
  • Operates in a fast-paced, on-site healthcare setting with flexible department coverage.

Registered Nurse Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Medical Assistants (MAs) on the care team.
  • Manage scheduling, PTO requests, and delegation of tasks within the care team.
  • Administer medications and treatments per orders, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Coordinate and manage daily huddles, reviewing patient charts for completeness.
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians during patient examinations and treatments.
  • Ensure compliance with nursing standards, policies, and local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Provide training and mentorship to staff, fostering professional development.
  • Maintain inventory of clinical supplies, ensuring availability for operations.
  • Document progress notes and patient interactions within 24 hours using the electronic health record system.

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in hospital or ambulatory settings required.
  • Current, unrestricted New York State RN licensure and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Knowledge of nursing theory, regulations, and practices to deliver and evaluate patient care.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards and ensure safety compliance.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records and medical chart reporting.
  • Skill in identifying problems, recommending solutions, and delegating tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with patients and colleagues in a team atmosphere.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and leadership experience in clinical settings.
