Senior Legal Billing Specialist Overview

  • The Senior Legal Billing Specialist role involves managing complex billing operations for a global law firm, ensuring accuracy and compliance with guidelines.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and firm personnel to deliver exceptional billing services and resolve invoicing issues effectively.
  • Support partners and clients by generating and editing proformas, updating rates, and preparing detailed reports.
  • Ensure electronic invoices are processed efficiently, resolving rejections and reductions promptly.
  • Provide training and mentorship to new and junior billing staff, fostering team growth and efficiency.
  • Contribute to special projects, process improvements, and policy discussions within the billing department.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while handling sensitive client and firm matters.
  • Work in a hybrid environment, balancing onsite and remote work effectively.

Senior Legal Billing Specialist Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform daily billing activities, including proforma generation, timecard summaries, and client report preparation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoice processing in accordance with client guidelines.
  • Resolve billing issues by collaborating with partners and other stakeholders.
  • Implement and adhere to client fee arrangements and outside counsel guidelines.
  • Manage electronic invoice submissions and address rejections or reductions efficiently.
  • Assist with training and mentoring of billing staff, enhancing team capabilities.
  • Participate in special assignments, including testing and process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain administrative responsibilities, ensuring accurate record-keeping and reporting.

Senior Legal Billing Specialist Job Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree required; Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of billing experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with strong Excel capabilities.
  • Experience with 3E, eBilling HUB, and eBilling vendor sites is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills to manage complex billing operations.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact professionally with attorneys, staff, and clients.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to preserve confidentiality and exercise discretion in sensitive matters.
