Behavioral Health Counselor Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Collaborate with primary care teams to deliver comprehensive behavioral health services.
- Perform patient evaluations to determine differential diagnoses and intervention plans.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to patient privacy standards.
- Document care provided, meeting organizational standards and protocols.
- Facilitate ethical decision-making processes as appropriate.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and refer patients for additional care within the organization or community.
- Utilize teaching-learning theory to influence patient outcomes effectively.

Behavioral Health Counselor Job Requirements
- Clinical licensure as LCSW or LPC-MHSP in Tennessee required.
- Minimum of 6 months experience required; 2+ years preferred.
- Proficiency in Spanish, Arabic, or Kurdish is preferred.
- Certification or experience in trauma, co-occurring disorders, CBT, ACT, and Solution-Focused Intervention preferred.
- Ability to function independently in clinical decision-making.
- Experience in integrated healthcare settings preferred.
- Strong communication skills for interaction with patients, families, and care teams.
- Familiarity with evidence-based behavioral health assessment and treatment modalities.
- Flexibility and motivation to work in a primary care environment.
