- The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides safe, quality patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Collaborates with a designated care team to achieve patient care goals effectively.
- Demonstrates proficiency in treatments, procedures, and therapeutic interventions.
- Administers medications, observes patient responses, and documents outcomes accurately.
- Performs diagnostic procedures such as EKGs and phlebotomy for blood collection.
- Assists patients with therapeutic equipment and reinforces its proper use.
- Ensures compliance with organizational policies and New York State regulations.
- Participates in weekend shifts as required to support patient care needs.
- Provides bilingual Spanish support to enhance patient communication and care delivery.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Perform therapeutic procedures and treatments, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Administer medications, monitor patient reactions, and document observations.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures such as EKGs and phlebotomy for accurate assessments.
- Assist patients with therapeutic equipment, ensuring proper usage and effectiveness.
- Record vital signs, height, weight, and other patient metrics accurately.
- Collect and document specimens for diagnostic purposes.
- Maintain compliance with infection control and child abuse prevention protocols.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
- Provide bilingual Spanish support to enhance patient communication and care.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Requirements
- Certificate of completion from a practical nurse course of study required.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.
- Current New York State LPN license and registration mandatory.
- Current BCLS, Infection Control, and Child Abuse Certificates required.
- Demonstrated ability to perform venipuncture and administer medications.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including typing and documentation.
- Strong clinical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Bilingual Spanish proficiency preferred for enhanced patient interaction.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends to meet patient care needs.
