Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Manager Overview

  • The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Manager oversees clinical and operational leadership for neonatal care services, ensuring high-quality, family-centered care.
  • Lead and support a team of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs) across multiple neonatal units and programs.
  • Promote evidence-based practices, compliance with standards, and quality initiatives in neonatal care.
  • Develop professional growth opportunities for NNPs to enhance clinical competency and career satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain clinical competency and provide direct patient care as needed.
  • Assist with departmental budgets, resource utilization, and administrative reporting.

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Manager Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Supervise and support NNPs across neonatal units, ensuring effective staffing and coverage.
  • Oversee the Neonatal Regionalization Support Program and ensure its operational success.
  • Promote safe, consistent, and evidence-based neonatal care practices.
  • Evaluate and coach NNP clinical performance, fostering professional development.
  • Collaborate with leadership on recruitment, onboarding, and personnel matters.
  • Encourage NNP participation in clinical councils, committees, and quality initiatives.
  • Support quality control, patient safety, and infection prevention initiatives.
  • Partner with physicians, nursing leaders, and administration to enhance patient care.

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Manager Job Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is required for this position.
  • License as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is mandatory.
  • Certification in area of specialty is preferred for enhanced qualifications.
  • NRP, PALS, and BLS certifications are essential for clinical competency.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience required, with 5 years preferred.
  • Strong leadership and clinical skills to manage neonatal care teams effectively.
  • Ability to develop and implement quality initiatives and professional development programs.
  • Experience in budget management and operational planning is advantageous.
