Job Description

Estimator Overview

  • The Estimator will play a critical role in providing accurate cost estimates for projects, ensuring alignment with client expectations and project goals.
  • Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to gather project requirements and specifications for accurate cost analysis.
  • Analyze project documents, blueprints, and specifications to determine material, labor, and time requirements.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates and budgets, ensuring accuracy and feasibility within project constraints.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and labor costs to provide competitive estimates.
  • Assist in bid preparation and presentation, ensuring clarity and alignment with client needs.
  • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and risks during the estimation process.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards in all estimation activities.

Estimator Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing for materials and services.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on cost estimates and project feasibility to stakeholders.
  • Monitor and update cost databases to ensure accurate and current information is used in estimates.
  • Participate in project planning meetings to provide insights and support for budget development.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and bids, ensuring all cost-related information is accurate and comprehensive.
  • Identify and address discrepancies or potential issues in project documentation and estimates.
  • Support project managers in tracking project costs and managing budgets during project execution.

Estimator Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required; additional certifications in construction or project management are a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost estimation or a related field; 5 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and tools for accurate cost analysis and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills for precise cost calculations and budget planning.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work on-site and adapt to dynamic project environments and requirements.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, materials, and labor costs to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
