Women and Infants Registered Nurse Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide direct patient care in labor and delivery, postpartum, and NICU units.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Monitor and document patient conditions, ensuring timely communication with the care team.
  • Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and nursing students.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Stay current with advancements in nursing practices and technologies.
  • Support high-risk deliveries and provide specialized care to critically ill infants.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Women and Infants Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in Women and Infants nursing or completion of an approved fellowship program.
  • NRP certification required within 6 months of hire; ACLS required for labor duties.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association or equivalent.
  • Strong clinical skills and ability to work in a high-acuity environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to providing patient-centered, evidence-based care.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations as required.
