Job Description

AVP Fund Controller Overview

  • The AVP Fund Controller will oversee fund accounting and financial reporting for diverse investment vehicles, including ILS, direct investments, and hedge funds.
  • Collaborate closely with portfolio managers and investor relations teams to ensure accurate reporting and compliance across strategies.
  • Support dynamic investment operations, leveraging cutting-edge financial tools and methodologies for optimal performance.
  • Engage in cash management forecasts, budgeting, and capital allocation for investment portfolios.
  • Maintain compliance with fund credit facilities, interpreting agreements and monitoring portfolio assets effectively.
  • Perform detailed data analysis on large asset portfolios, ensuring accuracy and compliance with portfolio tests.
  • Contribute to audit and tax reporting processes, ensuring regulatory adherence and seamless operations.
  • Assist in onboarding new investment vehicles, integrating them into the accounting and reporting infrastructure.
  • Handle ad-hoc requests from senior management, enhancing operational efficiency and strategic decision-making.

AVP Fund Controller Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage financial reporting processes, including performance estimates, NAV calculations, and fund returns.
  • Coordinate with fund administrators on investor reporting, audits, and due diligence requests.
  • Oversee cash management forecasts, budgets, and capital allocation for investment portfolios.
  • Maintain expense registers for budgeting, attribution, and forecasting purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with fund credit facilities, interpreting agreements and monitoring portfolio assets.
  • Conduct data analysis and reconciliation for large asset portfolios, ensuring compliance with portfolio tests.
  • Review management and performance fee calculations for direct investment and hedge fund vehicles.
  • Respond to investor queries regarding fund performance, NAVs, and tax-related matters.
  • Support regulatory compliance, including SEC reporting requirements.

AVP Fund Controller Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with strong accounting theory knowledge.
  • 6-8 years of accounting/finance experience; CPA certification preferred.
  • Experience with credit-related products, loan settlement, and trade reconciliations is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with direct investment and hedge fund accounting/reporting processes is a plus.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, portfolio compliance tests, and financial reconciliation.
  • Ability to operate independently and collaboratively to achieve objectives effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with management, employees, and external agencies.
  • Knowledge of SEC and regulatory compliance requirements is beneficial.
