• The Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner will provide psychiatric care to patients, including assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver comprehensive mental health services.
• Prescribe medications and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs.
• Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and available treatment options.
• Document patient care in electronic medical records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care standards.
• Maintain proficiency in electronic health record systems and healthcare technology.
• Commit to providing high-quality, patient-centered care in an on-site setting.
• Work Monday through Friday, with no on-call or weekend requirements.

Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments for patients in need of mental health care.
• Diagnose and treat various mental health disorders using evidence-based practices.
• Prescribe medications and other therapeutic interventions as necessary.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care in electronic health records.
• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary care planning.
• Stay updated on current mental health laws, ethical standards, and ICD methodology.
• Engage in crisis management and problem-solving as part of patient care.

Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner Job Requirements

• Master of Science in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
• Active RN license and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification in Massachusetts.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychiatric care; 3 years preferred.
• MCSR and DEA licenses required for prescribing medications.
• Advanced knowledge of medicine and expertise in child/adolescent and adult psychiatry.
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and healthcare technology.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills.
• Ability to manage stress, demonstrate flexibility, and solve problems effectively.
