Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner Overview

  • The Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner will provide psychiatric care to patients, including assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver comprehensive mental health services.
  • Prescribe medications and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs.
  • Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and available treatment options.

Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner Key Responsibilities & Duties

Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner Job Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
  • Active RN license and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification in Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychiatric care; 3 years preferred.
  • MCSR and DEA licenses required for prescribing medications.
  • Advanced knowledge of medicine and expertise in child/adolescent and adult psychiatry.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and healthcare technology.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills.
