Dermatology Nurse Practitioner Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive dermatologic evaluations, including full-body skin exams and patient histories.
  • Diagnose and manage dermatologic conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis.
  • Evaluate and treat precancerous and cancerous skin lesions within scope of practice.
  • Perform dermatologic procedures, including biopsies, cryotherapy, and lesion removal.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with licensure guidelines.
  • Order and interpret dermatopathology and diagnostic testing.
  • Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation.
  • Participate in ongoing dermatology-focused education and professional development.

Dermatology Nurse Practitioner Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited NP or PA program.
  • Active North Carolina NP or PA license and national certification.
  • Minimum 1 year of dermatology experience required.
  • Preferred dermatology certification or willingness to pursue certification within a year.
  • Proficient in dermatologic procedures such as biopsies and cryotherapy.
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills.
  • Familiarity with dermatoscopy and EMR systems.
  • Interest in rural healthcare and long-term patient relationships.
