Vice President, Controller Overview

  • The Vice President, Controller will oversee accounting and reporting for a prestigious family office, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage financial operations across diverse investment portfolios, including private equity, credit, and real assets.
  • Collaborate with investment and advisory teams to produce detailed performance analytics and reports.
  • Support liquidity management, capital planning, and forecasting for the family office's financial activities.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure timely compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of accounting processes and controls for a growing platform.
  • Work in a hybrid environment, combining remote flexibility with on-site collaboration.

Vice President, Controller Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Execute monthly and quarterly financial closes across investment vehicles and entities, maintaining accurate records.
  • Prepare financial statements, reconciliations, and maintain the general ledger for all entities.
  • Manage partner capital accounts, capital calls, and distribution activities per agreements.
  • Calculate fund waterfalls, carried interest, and incentive allocations for multiple investment vehicles.
  • Support quarterly valuation processes and produce performance reports including IRR, MOIC, DPI, and TVPI.
  • Coordinate audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance with external advisors and service providers.
  • Review deliverables from administrators and service providers for accuracy and completeness.
  • Enhance accounting systems and controls to support operational efficiency and compliance.

Vice President, Controller Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • CPA designation preferred, with 8–12 years of relevant accounting and financial reporting experience.
  • Expertise in fund and partnership accounting within alternatives such as private equity or real assets.
  • Proficiency in US GAAP and partnership accounting principles, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and familiarity with accounting systems like Allvue or Investran.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle sensitive financial matters with discretion.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
