Firmware Manager Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Lead firmware engineering team, managing delivery, technical health, and team dynamics.
- Develop and review production C/C++ code for safety-critical embedded devices.
- Implement real-time firmware for RTOS targets and Embedded Linux environments.
- Debug hardware issues using JTAG, GDB, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Maintain and enhance firmware CI/CD pipelines and test automation systems.
- Manage Agile Scrum processes, including backlog grooming, estimation, and forecasting.
- Advocate for technical health and feasibility within the backlog and quality processes.
- Collaborate with product and program forums to align technical direction and integration risks.
Firmware Manager Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 6 years of embedded software development experience, with 2 years in leadership roles.
- Proficiency in C/C++, RTOS, Embedded Linux, and hardware debugging tools.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and hardware-in-the-loop coverage.
- Strong technical judgment for feasibility assessment, estimation, and risk management.
- Solid management skills in performance, development, and capacity planning.
- Background in functional safety or regulated industries is a plus.
