Physician Oncology Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess patient needs and develop treatment plans.
• Provide detailed information to patients regarding their prognosis and treatment options.
• Order diagnostic tests, including biopsies, blood work, and imaging, to confirm diagnoses.
• Develop and implement treatment plans that prioritize patient preferences and clinical goals.
• Manage cancer-related pain and symptoms to maintain patient quality of life.
• Participate in clinical trials and ensure adherence to study protocols and patient confidentiality.
• Monitor patient progress and reassess treatment plans as necessary.
• Engage in professional development and training sessions to stay updated on oncology advancements.

Physician Oncology Job Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree with Board Certification/Eligibility in Oncology.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in oncology; 5 years preferred.
• Active Oregon Medical license or ability to obtain one.
• Current DEA license or eligibility to obtain one.
• Strong technical and computer skills, including proficiency with EMR systems.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to manage patient care effectively.
• Empathetic and compassionate nature to guide patients through their cancer care journey.
• Emotional resilience to handle the demands of delivering difficult news and managing complex cases.
