• Leads administrative, financial, and personnel activities within the clinical laboratory department.

• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including CLIA and CAP standards.
• Provides operational guidance to site management, fostering a culture of excellence.

• Supports laboratory testing operations as needed to maintain workflow.

Director Clinical Laboratory Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Manage and oversee all clinical laboratory operations and departmental activities.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, including CLIA and CAP requirements.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and quality assurance programs.
• Collaborate with corporate leadership on system-wide initiatives and standardization.
• Provide financial oversight, including budgeting and cost management.
• Lead personnel activities, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
• Engage in continuous improvement projects to enhance laboratory operations.
• Perform routine laboratory testing to support departmental needs.

Director Clinical Laboratory Job Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in a scientific field, meeting CLIA requirements.
• Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist certification, ASCP preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Knowledge of general accounting, statistics, and financial operations.
• Experience with quality control and management tools; LEAN Six Sigma certification preferred.
• Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• Proven ability to manage compliance with regulatory standards and quality improvement initiatives.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to guide teams effectively.
