Senior Planner, Materials Management Overview

  • The Senior Planner, Materials Management, ensures optimal material availability for manufacturing operations in a hybrid work environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop material strategies aligned with organizational goals and production demands.
  • Leverage SAP and advanced Excel tools to maintain inventory accuracy and support supply chain continuity.
  • Contribute to strategic planning processes, including S&OP, to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Support new product introductions by managing specialty raw materials and forecasting production needs.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize inventory management and procurement processes.

Senior Planner, Materials Management Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and execute material plans to support manufacturing schedules and MRP requirements.
  • Create and manage purchase requisitions and orders for direct materials.
  • Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and optimize inventory parameters for reliable supply.
  • Monitor SAP transactions to ensure inventory accuracy and continuity of supply.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve invoice and supply issues effectively.
  • Support scenario planning and reporting to enhance material management strategies.
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to manage specialty raw materials.

Senior Planner, Materials Management Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field is required.
  • 4–7 years of experience in supply chain planning or materials management in regulated industries.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Power BI, and advanced Excel tools, including VBA and macros.
  • Knowledge of GMP principles and pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage risk effectively.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across functions.
  • Preferred certifications include Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt and APICS.
  • Adaptable and detail-oriented approach to managing complex supply chain scenarios.
