Real Estate Legal Assistant Overview
- The Real Estate Legal Assistant will support legal operations focusing on real estate transactions and corporate governance.
- Collaborate with attorneys to manage contracts, title reports, and transaction closings efficiently.
- Prepare and review critical legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Coordinate with title companies to secure title insurance and handle endorsements.
- Assist in forming, qualifying, and dissolving business entities across U.S. jurisdictions.
- Provide research and advice on corporate governance issues for major clients.
- Draft resolutions and coordinate due diligence processes for legal transactions.
- Support the preparation of closing binders and indices for real estate and corporate deals.
- Contribute to a collaborative and detail-oriented legal team in a dynamic environment.
Real Estate Legal Assistant Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Review and analyze contracts, title reports, exception documents, and ALTA surveys.
- Negotiate with title companies to secure title insurance and endorsements.
- Prepare estoppels, closing instructions, and transaction closing documents.
- Draft and compile closing checklists, indices, and binders.
- Assist in forming and dissolving business entities and corporate housekeeping tasks.
- Research and advise on corporate governance issues, including director and shareholder re-elections.
- Draft board and shareholder resolutions and coordinate due diligence processes.
- Attend and coordinate transaction closings, ensuring smooth execution.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support legal operations.
Real Estate Legal Assistant Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies or Paralegal Certification from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in real estate and bank closings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and excellent communication skills.
- Strong time management and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Experience in corporate governance and business entity management preferred.
