Job Description

Medical Assistant Overview

  • The Medical Assistant supports the care team by providing clinical and administrative assistance to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered services.
  • Assist in maintaining patient flow and resolving registration, check-in, and check-out issues efficiently.
  • Perform various patient care functions, including vital signs, phlebotomy, and diagnostic tests.
  • Ensure accurate documentation in electronic medical records and uphold patient confidentiality.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments with external specialists and affiliated laboratories.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain professionalism in all interactions.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes and reducing unnecessary hospital visits.
  • Participate in campaigns and outreach programs to enhance community health.

Medical Assistant Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Greet patients warmly and assist with inquiries regarding appointments and services.
  • Monitor patient flow and communicate wait times effectively to patients and guests.
  • Perform patient registration, verify insurance coverage, and maintain accurate demographic data.
  • Assist with direct patient care, including physical exam preparation and diagnostic testing.
  • Document patient care information accurately in electronic health records.
  • Coordinate referrals and ensure timely communication with external specialists.
  • Conduct outreach to at-risk patients to promote preventive care and reduce hospital admissions.

Medical Assistant Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or eligibility for certification within 18 months.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Proficiency in navigating electronic medical records systems.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and patient care procedures.
  • Ability to perform diagnostic tests and assist with clinical services.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours between 8 AM and 6 PM.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and professionalism.
