Investment Accountant Overview
- The Investment Accountant will oversee accounting and reporting for derivatives and investment portfolios across multiple entities.
- Ensure accurate month-end reporting by reviewing packages from external investment accounting providers.
- Prepare detailed income analyses and comprehensive reporting for investment portfolios.
- Maintain and update accounting records for internal trading activities.
- Collaborate with operations teams to resolve discrepancies and operational challenges.
- Perform derivative accounting, including balance sheet reconciliations and valuation adjustments.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and addressing inquiries.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and enhance reporting accuracy.
- Work in a hybrid environment, combining remote flexibility with on-site collaboration.
Investment Accountant Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Review month-end investment accounting packages and prepare detailed income analyses.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual investment portfolio reports for various entities.
- Conduct derivative accounting, including roll forwards, reconciliations, and disclosure preparation.
- Coordinate with external providers to ensure accurate investment accounting services.
- Collaborate with Treasury Operations on collateral movements and financial adjustments.
- Prepare internal and external reports on derivatives for senior management and stakeholders.
- Support audit processes by providing documentation and addressing inquiries.
- Assist in improving processes and enhancing reporting systems.
- Ensure compliance with departmental policies and control responsibilities.
Investment Accountant Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related business/finance field with accounting concentration.
- Minimum of five years of experience in public accounting or financial services.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Clearwater Analytics and Sovos software preferred.
- CPA certification is preferred, showcasing advanced accounting expertise.
- Strong analytical skills to prepare detailed financial analyses and reports.
- Experience in derivative accounting and investment portfolio management.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with auditors and senior management.
