Job Description

Senior Mechanical Engineer Overview

  • The Senior Mechanical Engineer will focus on designing innovative lighting products for OEM customers, collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Engage with customer engineering and studio teams to ensure alignment on project requirements and design specifications.
  • Lead CAD design direction, guiding the team in concept development and design reviews.
  • Perform simulations, coordinate reviews, and ensure documentation accuracy for validation plans and PFMEA processes.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams on sample builds, addressing concerns and ensuring product readiness.
  • Balance desk work, meetings, and physical testing/manufacturing trials to support project goals.
  • Manage multiple projects, including design, validation, and launch stages, alongside smaller component design and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Own product lifecycle from RFQ stage to production launch, ensuring successful delivery.

Senior Mechanical Engineer Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Direct CAD design and concept development, ensuring alignment with project goals and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate and review simulation requests, analyzing results for thermal, vibration, and airflow performance.
  • Engage in customer meetings to discuss project progress and address technical concerns.
  • Develop and validate product designs, ensuring compliance with quality standards and performance criteria.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation for validation plans, PFMEA, and production processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including optical, manufacturing, quality, and electrical engineers.
  • Support manufacturing trials, physical testing, and tear-downs to optimize product performance.
  • Drive cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives for existing product designs.

Senior Mechanical Engineer Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience, with 5+ years preferred in mechanical engineering roles.
  • Experience in lighting design for Tier 1 or OEM customers highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as CREO, NX, or CATIA; SolidWorks and AutoCAD less preferred.
  • Knowledge of thermal and vibration simulations, airflow analysis, and product validation techniques.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in guiding CAD design teams and reviewing design concepts.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
