Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting detailed maintainability studies and calculations to assess component/system downtime under general engineering management direction.
  • Designing, developing, and implementing new reliability test strategies early in the development life cycle to mitigate program risk and identify potential failures.
  • Assessing the reliability of early designs, providing recommendations for preferred design options, and presenting comprehensive trade-off analyses.
  • Performing Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and other assessments using risk evaluation methodologies.
  • Considering cost implications in recommended action plans for avoiding/correcting problems during the design phase or implementing remedial action for downtime problems on installed systems.
  • Planning engineering research, collaborating with design development, and working with manufacturing/process engineering teams to reduce downtime and meet reliability goals.
  • Tackling broad and creative assignments with appreciable originality within a multi-functional team environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering is required.
  • Minimum of 5-6 years of relevant experience, with advanced graduate degrees considered toward overall experience.
  • Previous experience working with Med Device companies.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and predictive statistical models is desirable.
  • Track record of delivering solutions with complex system components and architecture.
  • Experience guiding a product through the entire design cycle within a multi-functional landscape.
  • R&D experience in medical device technologies and product lines.
