Job Description
Title: Purchasing Assistant
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with placing purchase orders, reviewing order confirmations, and tracking shipments
- Analyze vendor bylines to determine purchasing needs and submit purchase orders
- Verify order accuracy and pricing confirmations before finalizing purchases
- Implement vendor price changes in the ERP system and address pricing issues
- Maintain and update part numbers, custom pricing, and vendor pricing
- Generate and maintain monthly sales and purchasing reports
- Assist with branch transfers and vendor rebate reconciliation
- Prepare customer price books and ensure accurate pricing updates
- Answer phone calls and enter orders as needed
- Develop knowledge of Milby Company’s product offerings to support purchasing decisions
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or associate’s degree preferred
- 1+ years of experience in an office setting, purchasing, or wholesale distribution
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong data entry and Excel skills, including report generation and database management
- Experience working with ERP systems for purchasing and order tracking
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a task-driven role
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
