Job Description

Title: Associate Accountant

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for each plan, ensuring timely completion.
  • Maintain accounts payable historical trial balance and generate 1099NEC filings.
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts and review financial discrepancies.
  • Analyze Local Collection Agents’ Lockbox deposits and resolve reconciliation differences.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations for pre-paid expenses, fixed assets, investments, and payroll withholdings.
  • Process biweekly payroll, reconcile ADP payroll entries, and generate leave balance reports.
  • Prepare and review journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Manage and track lease schedules, including rent and equipment, with necessary reconciliations.
  • Assist in audit preparations, including compiling schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Provide reports and financial analysis for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Address and resolve accounting discrepancies by coordinating with vendors and internal departments.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience in financial operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with ERISA and employee benefit plans is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Taft-Hartley multi-employer benefit plans is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, payroll reconciliation, and financial reporting.
  • Highly organized with strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and various management styles.
  • Demonstrates initiative and flexibility, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve accounting issues.
