Job Description
Position Overview:
The Construction Superintendent is responsible for managing on-site construction activities for commercial, industrial, or institutional building projects. This role ensures that all aspects of the project are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with design documents and quality standards. The Superintendent acts as the lead field representative and plays a key role in coordinating subcontractors, site logistics, and daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily field operations and site activities from groundbreaking through project completion.
- Maintain overall responsibility for project safety, quality control, and schedule adherence.
- Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and ensure timely delivery of work per project schedule.
- Enforce compliance with construction documents, local codes, and safety regulations.
- Track progress and communicate updates, issues, and solutions to project management and stakeholders.
- Conduct daily job site inspections to monitor work quality, safety practices, and progress.
- Ensure all work is performed according to design specifications and approved submittals.
- Maintain detailed daily reports, job site logs, and inspection records.
- Manage and resolve on-site issues quickly to prevent delays or cost impacts.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and staging of materials and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a superintendent in commercial or light industrial construction. Ground Up Experience.
- Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and field crews in a fast-paced environment.
- In-depth understanding of building systems, construction methods, and safety best practices.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficient in interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Experience using construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, or similar).
- OSHA 30-hour certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field is a plus.
