Position Overview

Leading healthcare organization in San Francisco seeks an experienced nursing leader to direct perioperative services, including Operating Room, PACU, and Ambulatory Surgery. The role involves strategic oversight of clinical operations, quality initiatives, and operational excellence in a fast-paced urban medical center.

Nurse Director Essential Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for all perioperative services, ensuring excellence in patient care, operational efficiency, and staff development
• Direct the development and implementation of quality standards across the perioperative continuum of care
• Collaborate with medical staff and facility leadership to maintain superior care experience and safety standards
• Oversee staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to optimize operational efficiency while minimizing premium pay expenses
• Lead implementation of strategic initiatives including OR utilization, workplace safety, and supply cost management
• Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain continuous readiness for accreditation
• Manage departmental budgets and implement cost-effective strategies while maintaining quality standards
• Mentor and develop nursing managers and staff, fostering a culture of professional growth
• Drive patient satisfaction initiatives and quality improvement projects

Required Qualifications

• Current California RN license
• Master's degree in Nursing or BSN with Master's in related field
• Strong track record of perioperative services management
• Experience with regulatory compliance (TJC, CMS, Title 22)
• Demonstrated success in operations management and quality improvement
• Excellence in team leadership and change management

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in shared governance/Magnet environment
• Background in union environment
• AORN involvement and leadership
