Project Manager – Ground-Up Multifamily & Mixed-Use Construction

About the Opportunity

A privately held real estate developer and builder with a strong pipeline across the Midwest is seeking a Project Manager to lead the execution of multifamily, mixed-use, and senior living projects from preconstruction through closeout.

This is a great opportunity for a PM who wants to own their projects, work directly with ownership, and be part of a fast-growing company that values long-term partnerships and internal growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of construction from groundbreaking through turnover
• Lead subcontractor buyout, procurement, and contract negotiations
• Drive project schedules, budgets, and cost tracking
• Coordinate with internal development and design teams, as well as external consultants
• Conduct regular site visits and oversee safety, quality, and progress
• Maintain strong relationships with ownership, lenders, and municipal contacts
• Identify and resolve issues proactively in the field and during coordination
• Mentor Assistant PMs and Project Engineers

Ideal Candidate Background

• 4–10+ years of experience managing ground-up commercial or multifamily construction
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
• Proven ability to lead projects from preconstruction through completion
• Strong understanding of scheduling, budgeting, buyout, and contract management
• Comfortable using construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project/Excel)
• A problem-solver and relationship-builder who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting
