Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental health and safety programs across the hospital.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for safety audits, life safety planning, and regulatory inspections from organizations such as The Joint Commission and CMS.
  • Partner with clinical and nonclinical teams to conduct regular Environment of Care (EOC) safety rounds and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain and update safety-related policies and procedures to ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Oversee hospital-wide emergency management initiatives and interim life safety measures during construction or system updates.
  • Coordinate the organization’s response to surveyors, inspectors, and auditors; prepare follow-up reports and lead corrective actions as needed.
  • Monitor and analyze safety data trends, identify areas for improvement, and present findings to senior leadership.
  • Direct the annual IntraCycle Monitoring (ICM) review process and support overall accreditation readiness.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, Emergency Management, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree.
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in healthcare safety or hospital safety leadership, preferably in a large or multi-site organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance and healthcare-specific safety programs.
  • Certifications strongly preferred:
    • Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP)
    • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)
    • Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM)
