Job Description

Overview

  • Provide specialized speech-language pathology services to students in a supportive educational environment.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans addressing speech and language needs.
  • Collaborate with educators and parents to enhance student communication skills.
  • Work within a structured schedule following the school calendar.
  • Contribute to a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for preschool students.
  • Engage in professional development and training opportunities.
  • Utilize bilingual skills to support diverse student populations, if applicable.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss student progress and strategies.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assess students' speech-language skills to identify therapy needs.
  • Deliver quality speech therapy services as outlined in students' IEPs.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and complete required paperwork.
  • Provide training sessions and ongoing communication with parents.
  • Collaborate with colleagues during team meetings to optimize therapy plans.
  • Participate in staff development activities to enhance professional skills.
  • Meet regularly with supervisors to discuss progress and strategies.
  • Offer in-service training to staff to improve understanding of speech-language needs.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent qualification.
  • New York State Certificate as a Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped or equivalent.
  • Professional License as a Speech-Language Pathologist preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in speech-language pathology.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
