Job Description

Overview

  • Provide essential support in family law cases, including divorce, custody, adoption, and domestic violence matters.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to draft, review, and prepare legal documents and correspondence.
  • Manage case files, track court dates, and maintain organized documentation.
  • Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorney review.
  • Assist in preparing trial binders, exhibits, and witness lists for hearings and mediations.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Handle sensitive client information with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Contribute to child and spousal support calculations and document production.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Maintain case files, calendar deadlines, and track court dates effectively.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analyze findings for attorney use.
  • Prepare trial materials and assist attorneys during hearings and mediations.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel professionally.
  • Organize financial records, medical records, and other evidence for cases.
  • Handle sensitive matters with professionalism and maintain confidentiality.
  • Assist in preparing calculations for child and spousal support.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a family law paralegal; 5 years preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate or degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in legal software, Microsoft Office Suite, and e-filing systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of family law procedures, rules, and court filings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Compassionate and professional demeanor when dealing with clients.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with occasional remote work.
