Job Description

Overview

  • Manage comprehensive bookkeeping functions for a family office overseeing NYC residential rental properties.
  • Handle accounting tasks for regulated and deregulated apartments, office, retail, and medical spaces.
  • Ensure compliance with DHCR regulations and manage property registrations annually.
  • Oversee accounts receivable/payable, check deposits, invoices, and cash management.
  • Administer employee payroll, union payments, health insurance, and benefits through ADP.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, COO, CPAs, lawyers, and operational staff.
  • Utilize Yardi platform for property management and accounting tasks.
  • Work independently while fostering collaboration with colleagues daily.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Maintain accurate financial records for 400+ rental units, including luxury and rent-stabilized apartments.
  • Prepare and reconcile monthly financial reports and manage security deposits.
  • Ensure compliance with residential property regulations and file necessary documentation.
  • Coordinate with banks for financial transactions and account management.
  • Administer payroll, employee benefits, and union contracts effectively.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and COO to support strategic financial decisions.
  • Utilize Yardi software to streamline property management processes.
  • Assist in audits and liaise with external CPAs and legal advisors.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably 10 years.
  • Proficiency in Yardi software and residential property management.
  • Strong knowledge of NYC rental regulations and DHCR compliance.
  • Experience with payroll systems, particularly ADP, and employee benefits management.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills for collaboration with executives and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
