Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and manage clinical operations within a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), ensuring high-quality patient care and safety standards.
  • Develop and implement best practice models and patient care delivery systems across multiple locations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Monitor and manage resource allocation, including staff, equipment, supplies, and medications.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Provide clinical supervision and maintain necessary competencies and licensing for effective care delivery.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in clinical practices and operational efficiency.
  • Drive strategic planning and implementation to enhance healthcare quality and affordability.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee daily operations of the NICU, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Develop and manage budgets, financial plans, and resource allocation strategies for the department.
  • Lead and mentor staff, fostering professional growth and ensuring high performance standards.
  • Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Facilitate collaboration with physicians and healthcare teams to optimize patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including health care quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and recovery plans for the department.
  • Lead strategic projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and service quality.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with a minimum of five years of experience in clinical healthcare or business operations.
  • At least four years of leadership experience, with or without direct reports.
  • Active Registered Nurse License and Basic Life Support certification at the time of hire.
  • Knowledge of patient safety, nursing principles, emergency preparedness, and evidence-based medicine practices.
  • Proficiency in compliance management, stakeholder management, and healthcare quality standards.
  • Experience in workforce planning, conflict resolution, and employee training.
  • Preferred certifications include Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and ANCC certification in a related practice area.
  • Strong skills in business process improvement and familiarity with Microsoft Office and healthcare information systems.
