Overview
- Support attorneys in drafting and proofreading legal documents, including pleadings and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all relevant documents are accessible and properly filed.
- Coordinate with clients, court personnel, and other parties for efficient case management.
- Handle electronic filing and service of court documents in state and federal courts.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, depositions, hearings, and other appointments for attorneys.
- Serve as the point of contact for clients, guests, and vendors, ensuring a welcoming office environment.
- Manage general office operations, including supply needs and equipment maintenance.
- Collaborate with the team to maintain a professional and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Draft, proofread, and manage legal documents, ensuring compliance with court rules and procedures.
- Coordinate with clients, court personnel, and other stakeholders for case-related matters.
- Handle electronic filing and service of court documents in Maryland, DC, and Virginia.
- Maintain attorney calendars, deadlines, reminders, and expense reports.
- Serve as the receptionist, managing incoming calls and visitor check-ins professionally.
- Communicate office supply needs and equipment maintenance issues to the Office Manager.
- Coordinate office events and manage mail delivery efficiently.
- Adapt to changing priorities and demands in a fast-paced litigation environment.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in legal administrative support.
- 5+ years of experience in a commercial litigation department or practice.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, document management software, and other litigation tools.
- Knowledge of legal procedures, terminology, and court rules related to litigation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with comfort in client interactions.
- Experience with electronic filing in state and federal courts.
- Detail-oriented, client-focused, and service-oriented approach to work.
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments and changing priorities effectively.
